Establishing specialized technical support and field research center for FSM and non sewered sanitation

Aim:

  • To establish visible, successful end-to-end FSM systems and to support governments to get the high quality, reliable and timely technical support they need so they can meet their sanitation goals

 

Project Description:

Within this project, ENPHO provided technical consulting support to government and sanitation partners in designing, implementing and sustainable operation of high quality, end-to-end faecal sludge management systems that improve sanitation, public health, living conditions and the environment in cities in Nepal. The feasibility assessment and Detailed Project Report (DPR) of FSM services were prepared in three municipalities (Madhuban, Godawari and Dadeldhura). Together with Madhuban municipality, a natural Fecal Sludge Treatment System has been established and preparation of viable business plan including O&M guidelines are in the process. Madhuban municipality contributed land and 50% of construction cost for the establishment of FSTP. Similarly, the project organized trainings and workshops on fecal sludge management and non-sewered sanitation to build local capacity and advocate for FSM services at the local level. Together with EcoConcern Pvt. Ltd., ENPHO has prepared a business model to operate and manage the FSTP at Lubhu.

 

Project Outputs:

  • Established  FSTP in Madhuban Municipality;
  • Prepared Detail Project Report (DPR) on FSTP for Madhuban, Dadeldhura and GodawariMunicipalities;
  • Completed“Training on Introduction to FSM” to 29 officials from 11 municipalities;
  • Organized “Workshopon Fecal Sludge Management” to 34 local representatives and officials from 5 municipalities

Constructed FSTP in Madhuban Municipality in collaboration with the municipality
