Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO) won the 4th Kyoto Water Grand Prize. The award ceremony was held in 17th April at the 7th World Water Forum in Daegu, Korea. The Japan Water Forum awards the 4th Kyoto World Water Grand Prize to an organization involved in grass-roots activities dealing with water problems, which may serve as a model for others. ENPHO was selected from the 110 applications from 37 countries.
The overall objective of use this prize is to establish and demonstrate users-child friendly WASH facilities such that initiatives can be replicated in surrounding communities of project area. Altogether 10,600 school students among them 53% girls and 47% boys and 536 school staffs from 9 schools at Surkhet District in Mid-western region of Nepal will be directly benefited from this project.
The major targeted outputs of this prize project are; 1st improved access to safe water and better sanitation for girls and boys. 2nd Improved hygiene practices at schools and its catchment areas. 3rd Improved solid waste & wastewater management facilities, 4th enhanced educational & sports facilities to improve learning environment and 5th is Enhance environmental and WASH awareness in school.
